The Cookie Joke for Public Speaking - Content Over Delivery

A certain man was down to his last few days because of a serious sickness. As he lay in his bed feeling sorrowful he smelled the wonderful scent of his favorite treat- chocolate chip cookies!

"How thoughtful of his wonderful wife to prepare this gift for him," he thought. He mustered up the strength to walk into the kitchen. There they were, a whole pile of delicious cookies, each one at least four inches in diameter! With his mouth already watering, he anxiously reached out for the first cookie when suddenly, his wife slapped his hand and said, "Those are for the funeral, Mister!"

This joke is funny to me because obviously the wife is more concerned about the funeral than the man who will eventually be the reason for the funeral. Similarly, in public speaking, you don't want to put the horse before the cart by focusing on your delivery at the expense of your content.
