Public Speaking Joke: Ver-sales or Ver-sigh?

by Kelly
(Cincinnati, OH)

What are you really saying?

Two travelling salesmen are passinge through Versailes, Kentucky and debating how to pronounce the name of the town. One syas "Ver-sales" and one says its "Ver-sigh." They dsecide to stop for lunch and after ordering their burgers, they say "Hey, we are debating how to pronounce the name of this place. How do you say it?" To which the worker says slowly, "B-U-R-G-E-R K-I-N-G."

Comment: Great to use in a speech on clear communication! Remember, what you say doesn't matter: what matters is how your audience understands it. And it is the speaker's responsibility to make certain that he/she gets his/her point across in the clearest, best way.
