Nervous? Just pretend you're a completely different person!

Speaking Personas, Photo by Karoly Mezei

When I get a little nervous, I simply create a "persona" in my head. I give her very specific details, both physically and mentally.

It then becomes more about acting and less about public speaking.

The 'character' I create obviously has extensive knowledge in the area in which she is about to speak. Everyone is very interested in her thoughts on this topic since she is the leading expert in that area!

This technique has helped me so many times! Not only does it make me giggle and breath a little more regularly, but it also gives me the confidence I need to come across the way I want.
